Akeneo expands AI catalogue work with product-readiness rules

Akeneo’s 28 October release expands AI-assisted catalogue operations into Shopify and supplier data. Ziggy can help teams prepare and publish storefront information, while new supplier tools organise incoming contributions. Availability varies by Product Cloud edition.[1]

Akeneo also announced that it had acquired Dataggo, an integration and services partner. The acquisition adds implementation capacity as the company expands the systems its product information platform connects.[1]

Permission to suggest, permission to change

The existing Agentic Ziggy workflow separates conversation from action. Its documentation describes a planner that proposes steps for approval and an executor that carries out the approved plan. Agents inherit the individual user’s product-information-management permissions.[2]

An exploration permission allows read-only assistance; a separate permission enables write operations. Product enrichment is previewed before saving, and changes are logged against the user. Potentially disruptive data-model changes require manual activation.[2]

A complete record can still fail a publishing rule

The new Readiness Policies add checks for a particular channel and locale. Akeneo’s API documentation describes readiness as beta and available by request through a Customer Success Manager.[3][4]

Completeness asks whether required fields have values. Readiness checks configurable requirements involving those values, categories, associations and other product information. The same product can consequently pass one market’s checks and fail another’s.[3]

The score is the share of applicable requirements met, rounded to a whole percentage. Requirements that do not apply are excluded. Reaching 100% satisfies the configured checks, with publication or export requiring a separately configured workflow. This makes the rules chosen by the catalogue team central to what the score means.[3]
