Critical Manufacturing’s AI builds factory screens that people can keep editing

Version 12 turns a description into an initial page layout inside the manufacturing system’s existing builder.

Critical Manufacturing’s version 12, announced on 20 October, adds agents that build dashboards and interface pages on the data model used by its manufacturing execution system. The company describes the output as configuration that can be validated, versioned and retained through upgrades.[1]

From a description to a reusable screen

The Page Builder manual makes the workflow concrete. A user describes the workspace, data, widgets and main actions. AI creates an initial layout and component configuration; the user reviews it in the builder, changes widgets or links, previews the page and saves it for reuse.[2]

That requires configured AI infrastructure and permission to create and edit pages. The AI Editor is available for the Page UI type. Its output remains a regular page that can be edited after generation.[2]

Context comes from the manufacturing system

The configuration manual explains what context the AI panel can send: the selected entity’s identity and type, document or attachment identifiers, and the agent’s instructions. Administrators map each capability to the appropriate agent.[3]

The release also separates building a view from asking a question. Its answering agents support tasks such as examining performance indicators and preparing shift handovers. A generated page has a different purpose: it becomes an interface colleagues can return to and refine, rather than a one-off answer in a conversation.[1]
