A multilingual workshop needs a shared starting point: who is here, what each person hopes to do and which activity comes first. Try this exercise with three willing participants before opening a larger session.
DeepL’s group mode delivers translated speech through headsets. The host needs Voice for Conversations, Voice Starter, Voice Business or Voice for Meetings Business. Guests can join in a browser without a licence or app. This guide follows the mobile host route.[1][2]
This walkthrough follows documentation checked on 29 October 2026. We have not tested a live conversation.
Connect host and guests
Use the latest DeepL app on iOS 17 or Android 8.0 or later. Check everyone’s languages against both the speech-input and voice-output lists. English, French and Spanish appear in both.[1][2][3]
Open Voice for Conversations → Group conversation. Enter your name and language, choose Start group conversation, then use the QR icon to share the invitation.[1]
Guests scan the code, enter their name and language, and select Join. Connect headsets. Hold the microphone button while speaking; release it to finish. Take turns.[1]
Try an original check-in
Use that invented exercise to give each person a turn as speaker and listener. Invite them to correct the host’s recap. Point to the two activity cards while agreeing the assignments, so there is a visible record of the decision.
If someone cannot hear, check their headset and selected language before continuing.[1][3]
Finish with everyone able to ask a question, respond and identify their chosen activity. Keep the agreed name cards on the table as the workshop starts. This is a suggested rehearsal, not a measured test of translation accuracy.
