Huntington Bank is moving its AI offer into the work of getting a business started and ready for financing. On 19 October, it announced The 1866 Studio, a planned workspace built with Google Cloud’s Gemini platform. The initial proposition joins business launch guidance and marketing tools with help identifying what an owner still needs to prepare before seeking a loan.[1]
The public invitation is currently a waitlist. Huntington’s signup page says the studio is planned to launch later in 2026, with access details sent as they become available. Existing Huntington customers and people who do not bank with it can both register. Joining now therefore expresses interest in a forthcoming service; it does not immediately open a working business dashboard.[2]
The preparation becomes part of the product
Huntington describes customised startup action plans covering matters such as registration and licensing, Gemini-generated campaign material, and agents that explain lender expectations and flag financing gaps. It also says the workspace will retain relevant business context across tasks. Loan readiness is the stated function: identifying work that might strengthen a future application, with no loan approval promised in the announcement.[1]
There is substantial work inside that phrase. The Small Business Administration’s planning guidance asks a business seeking funding to explain how much it needs and what the money will buy. It connects that request to financial projections and, for established companies, historical financial statements. Marketing and sales plans also have to support the financial story being presented.[3]
Consider an illustrative founder opening a small repair workshop. A list of equipment is one part of the funding request. The founder also has to explain how customers will arrive, what they will pay and how the workshop will cover its bills while trade builds. Organising those assumptions can expose a weak plan before it becomes an application. Producing a polished document alone does not solve the underlying arithmetic.[3]
A customer relationship can start earlier
The open waitlist is commercially revealing. By inviting noncustomers into an ongoing business service, Huntington creates a route to a relationship before someone chooses a bank. The strategic opportunity is to become useful during the decisions that produce a financing need. That is an inference from the proposed service and its access terms, rather than a disclosed forecast of new accounts or lending revenue.[2]
For an entrepreneur, the immediate step is simply to register and wait for access details. The more consequential change is the role being proposed for a bank: helping an owner assemble a coherent business in the first place. When the studio arrives, that work will be the substance behind the invitation to talk about money.[2]
