CyberLink’s PowerDirector update gives a plain-language editing session somewhere to go next: the timeline. Announced on 17 September, Agentic Editor takes instructions involving several clips and performs edits, including effects and captions.[1]
Its current tutorial permits up to 50 image or video files. Attach them in Agentic Editor and use their @ labels to identify the material in a request. After an edit, the resulting clip’s menu offers Add to Timeline; OK opens the editing workspace. The tutorial also shows a lighting adjustment that can be refined manually.[2]
CyberLink’s guide uses PowerDirector 365 version 25.0.8 on Windows. These are documented operations, not our own app test. The demonstrated handoff adds an edited clip; it does not establish that every generated alteration remains independently adjustable.[2]
Give the film a purpose
For a small first project, consider this proposed brief: a one-minute film inviting neighbours to a printmaking workshop. Open with a finished print, show the inking and pressing, and end with the place and date. Select footage for each of those jobs before submitting it.
That sequence gives the second pass a useful question: can a newcomer understand the activity and decide whether to attend? A beautiful shot of a roller may deserve less time than the moment the paper lifts and reveals the print. The invitation needs enough screen time to be read.
Captions belong in that finishing pass. W3C’s accessibility guidance treats them as a timed account of speech and meaningful sound. Transcribing only the spoken words can leave out a speaker’s identity, music or a significant sound occurring off screen. Automatic captions should be reviewed for accuracy.[3]
Applied to the proposed workshop film, that means checking the tutor’s words and name, then asking whether any sounds explain what is happening. Caption a significant sound when it carries meaning the image does not supply. Keep the text aligned with its moment in the film.[3]
The finished invitation should make the workshop easy to understand, with or without its soundtrack.[3]
