Qlik introduced Semantic Models on 28 October, putting reusable business definitions into its data products. The aim is to carry established measures and relationships between applications and AI experiences.[1]
For net revenue, the sales records are only part of the answer: returns, discounts and reporting periods determine what gets counted. A shared definition gives different applications the same rule to apply.[1]
The announced availability schedule
| Capability | Status on 28 October |
|---|---|
| Semantic Models | General availability targeted where Data Products is available. |
| Extract definitions from existing Qlik apps | Public preview; general availability planned later in Q4. |
| Qlik Answers and MCP support | Targeted for the core release or shortly afterwards. |
Eligible products are Qlik Cloud Analytics and Qlik Talend Cloud Premium and Enterprise editions, plus Qlik Sense Enterprise SaaS. The reusable definitions sit alongside dataset ownership, lineage and quality information.[1]
