In Red the Ocean Around U, the visitor becomes U, a character deciding whether to adopt or return two stolen creatures. An AI character guides the journey by asking questions.[1]
Created by CROSSLUCID and writer Orion Facey, the work features an AI character named Claude. LAS Art Foundation describes questions generated from models trained on Facey’s texts, with synthetic speech combining the creators’ voices.[1]
That is an authored starting point for an unfixed journey: the visitor answers within a dilemma. LAS says the digital environment also responds to visitor data, including how many people occupy the same location.[1]
The original online commission dates from 2024. BFI listed its installation premiere at the IMAX for 7–18 October 2026.[1][2]
The festival credits distinguish story, sound, model conditioning and implementation. The creative choice lies in how these parts place an audience inside a decision while allowing the conversation and setting to vary.[2][1]
