ShipStation expands AI shipping tools with three analytics agents

The agents answer questions about costs, orders and warehouse activity. The expansion also reports fresh usage figures for an established autofill feature.

ShipStation announced three AI agents on 28 October to answer questions using merchants’ own shipping data. Available through ShipStation Labs, they cover carrier costs and performance, orders and returns, and warehouse activity such as picking performance, processing times and stock levels.[1][2]

The company says a 1,000-user pilot averaged six exchanges per conversation. That measures engagement with the service; it does not establish the accuracy of answers or the money saved by using them.[2]

The announcement also reports that autofill now pre-fills 1.4 million labels a week. SmartFill’s help guide was last updated on 10 December 2025: the new figures describe uptake of an existing feature.[1][3]

What goes into the next label

The guide describes a constrained match. New orders are compared with the two most recent purchased labels for the same combination of items. Weight and dimensions are filled in when those earlier shipments agree. If they differ, SmartFill leaves those values alone.[3]

That history excludes orders merely marked as shipped or sent to a fulfilment provider. After Auto-Split, SmartFill runs before other automation, so product defaults, service mappings and later rules can overwrite its suggestions. The Shipment Activity record shows what SmartFill added.[3]

Tracing a label’s final settings therefore means following that sequence, including any rules applied after autofill.[3]
