Keep a podcast highlight connected to its original audio

Capture a useful passage in Snipd, preserve the qualification that matters and export the note, transcript and listening link to Bear.

A qualification can arrive several seconds after a memorable podcast tip. Saving both gives you something more useful than a slogan: a passage you can understand when the rest of the conversation is no longer fresh.

This documentation-based iPhone walkthrough is for listeners who already use Snipd and Bear. The practice example below is invented, and no listening session or export has been tested.

Choose an episode with AI features available. Snipd’s free plan allows them for two processed episodes per week; Premium provides broader access. Listening and AI availability are separate, so check the episode before relying on its transcript.[3]

On the free plan, unlock AI features on the episode’s page. If a Premium snip shows only “1min snip”, use Run AI Processing on the episode or player, then Rewrite on that snip once processing finishes. Processing uses your monthly allowance.[4][3]

Capture the thought and its condition

In You > Settings > Snip settings, set Snip duration to Auto. AI will try to choose the passage’s boundaries. Fixed duration uses an approximate preset length. Choose the Short or Long summary format to suit how much detail you want.[2]

While listening, use your headphones’ skip-back control to create a snip. Snipd generates a summary with transcript and speaker information, then sounds a confirmation beep. Settings > Snip with your headphones lets you change which control triggers it.[1]

Imagine a guest recommending that photographers edit several pictures together, then limiting that advice to images taken under similar lighting. The useful passage includes both the suggestion and its condition. A note saying only “edit photographs in batches” would lose the distinction.

Open the saved snip and review its audio alongside the transcript. The current snip screen lets you edit the note and adjust where the highlight starts and ends. Extend a boundary if it has cut off the explanation you meant to keep.[5]

For the invented example, a concise note might read: “Batch the edit when the lighting is similar; the speaker treats that condition as part of the advice.” Listen again before treating any wording as a direct quotation. Keep your own interpretation visibly separate from the speaker’s words.

Export the passage with a way back

Go to You > Settings > Export & sync > Export to Bear. Select the snip and include Snip note, Transcript, Link to audio and Episode information. Tap Export and open it in Bear. This export route also offers a Markdown file.[6]

In the resulting note, check that the passage is recognisable and the audio link takes you back to the intended source. Give your own follow-up thought a separate paragraph so it does not become part of the apparent transcript.

The note now holds the idea and a route back to the passage that qualified it.[6]
