One image leads to another, then another. In Dan Xu’s Search for Similarity, an AI system repeatedly finds a new image resembling the one before it. The result is a changing sequence that visitors can follow.[1]
The work appears in Slow & Small AI at MU Hybrid Art House in Eindhoven, running from 17 October to 3 January 2027. The Visual Methodologies Collective’s 13 October account describes the search as continuous.[1]
That simple rule changes how to look at the sequence. Each transition offers a local connection: this picture resembles that one. Following several transitions makes the selections themselves the subject. Which visual relationship carries forward, and which disappears?[1]
Xu is an artist and creative technologist based in The Hague. Her interactive work explores how agency, communication and meaning emerge between people and technological systems.[1]
